St Francis Vet Brighton – Animal Care
For more than half a century St Francis vet Brighton at No 40 Norfolk Square has been providing first class veterinary small animal service to the surrounding area.
Mr Ian Macdonald, a kindly very experienced vet. established a practice and the principles of care and professional service which have never changed.
Doctor John (Mac) McMullen, with his partners, established and named Saint Francis on the occasion of Ian Macdonald’s retirement. Mac owned and ran veterinary practices in Cape Town South Africa to the same ethos of caring unhurried first class veterinary care. and he appointed Shaun Van Vuuren to become principle vet at Saint Francis because he had trained within his own organization in South Africa.
Shortly afterwards, Shaun became a full partner and was in fact in sole charge of day to day running of the practice. There is no doubt that quite apart from his charming manner, his care and attention and expertise made him very well respected among both clients and peers alike for almost 25 years. Sadly and unexpectedly Shaun became ill and passed away in May of 2018, leaving a massive dent in the surgery and something of an Herculean task to fill.
With so many of the small independent local vets falling into the hands of the “Corporates,” Shaun was concerned that Saint Francis would be taken over and the unique personal Saint Francis service to our many long standing clients and their pets lost.
With the steadfast support of Mac, friends of Shaun and the loyal (fantastic) group of outstanding people that make up the staff, not to mention lawyers, accountants, and consultants… this won’t happen. We have been able to recruit exactly the team we want to carry on with Saint Francis own special way of being “The Best Vet in Brighton”
The two experienced new vets (Emma Lucassen and Vlad Gobl) at St Francis in January are best placed to continue and were chosen with skills which compliment each other to provide seamless service.
